Community, Relations, Community Relations,
Community Associations Institute (CAI) estimates that in 1970 there were 10,000 community associations nationwide. Today, there are 260,000 community associations housing 50 million Americans. A community association functions as a business, a governance structure, and a community. Traditionally, these functions were applied as follows: business meant austerity; governance meant compliance; and community meant conformity. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the American Housing Survey, and IRS Statistics of Income Reports, associations today are seeking prudence in business, justice in governance, and harmony in community to provide an enjoyable, vibrant lifestyle for homeowners and residents.
The '''Coachella Valley''' is populated by nearly one million people, and only a two-hour drive from the metropolitan city of Los Angeles, the beaches of San Diego and the San Bernardino mountains of Big Bear and Arrowhead, the Valley consists of the towns of Coachella, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs and Indio and has a permanent population of 285,000, with an additional 100,000 seasonal residents.
55 % of the valley’s residents live in Homeowner’s Associations, CID’s and PUD’s. The valley extends for approximately 45 miles in Riverside County, southeast from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Salton Sea, the largest lake in California. Some people refer to the Coachella Valley as the "Desert Empire" to differentiate it from the Imperial Valley.
Coachella Valley also contains various unincorporated communities (Bermuda Dunes, Mecca-Thermal-Oasis and Thousand Palms), and is growing faster than anticipated.
